QUITO AIRPORT HAS BEGUN TO RETURN TO ITS NORMAL SCHEDULE FOR NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL FLIGHTS

More than 166 thousand passengers have been flying to and from Quito airport between June 1st and September 24th.

Connectivity from Quito International Airport has been increasing steadily since the resumption of commercial passenger operations, on June 1st, for national and international service.

Regarding domestic flights, during the months of June and July, three airlines (Avianca, Latam and Aeroregional) offered connections with six destinations within the country (Guayaquil, Cuenca, Manta, Loja, El Coca and Santa Rosa). In August, two additional destinations were added (Esmeraldas and Galapagos).

International airlines grew from three in June to three destinations (Amsterdam, Miami, and Houston), to six in July with five destinations (Madrid and Fort Lauderdale were added) and to nine in August with seven destinations (Mexico City and Panama were added, although only for connections).

From all the airports that closed in Latin America due to the health emergency, Quito airport was the first to resume national and international flights, implementing strict health protection measures and applying the protocols established by the Emergency Operations Committee.

Costa Rica decided to facilitate entry requirements to the country

As of Monday, October 26, national and foreign passengers entering Costa Rica by air must not present a negative RT-PCR test result, (same that determines the presence of SARS CoV-2 produced by Covid-19 ).

Neither Costa Ricans nor foreigners will receive a sanitary order of confinement when entering the country by air. This measure depends on the evolution of the pandemic in the national territory and in the world.

In addition to the immigration visa requirements for each country, the requirements within the framework of the pandemic that remain in force are to complete the epidemiological digital form called Health Pass and the acquisition of medical insurance that meets the established parameters.

In the last two months, the Tourism Board ICT has inspected 150 companies to ensure compliance with health protocols and 133 have requested the ICT for the Safe Travels seal granted by the World Travel and Tourism Council to the country, thanks to the implementation of the 16 protocols toilets for tourist activities. Currently, 73 companies have the Safe Travels seal. Horizontes Nature Tours is one of the first companies to receive recognition.

Thank you and best regards.

Safe travelling in Chile with travelArt – certified by Sernatur and WTTC

Various companies offering tourist services have obtained the “Confianza Turística” certificate through Sernatur, which guarantees compliance with health protocols in order to operate in the middle of the coronavirus pandemic.

There are currently over 2,000 hotels, campsites and services in Chile that have obtained this so-called “sello Covid” certification, thus committing themselves to responsible and safe tourism.

We are pleased to inform you that travelArt has also received this stamp.

In addition, we have also received the “Safe travels” certificate from the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC).

This stamp stands for compliance with global protocols, so that safe travel can be resumed as soon as restrictions are lifted. It is the first global health and safety stamp for travel and tourism specifically developed for COVID-19.

This will enable travelers and travel agencies to identify companies around the world that have implemented health and safety protocols and comply with the WTTC protocols for safe travel.

LATAM & Sky – More national and international flights

Step by step, the sky is opening up again for international flights.

LATAM has already resumed flights to 12 cities within Chile. The airline also flies from Santiago to 9 international destinations: Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Montevideo, São Paulo, Guayaquil, Bogota, Miami, Los Angeles, New York, and Madrid.

According to LATAM, other international routes will be reactivated from October onwards, including the operation in three Colombian cities, Mexico, Peru, and Ecuador.

Due to the global situation, travellers can purchase a “flexible” air ticket, which leaves room for possible changes.

As of 28 September, the government is allowing inter-regional travel between regions that are no longer in quarantine (phase 3-5). As such, the airline SKY has reactivated all its domestic routes and is also resuming flights to Peru and Brazil.
