Peru is one of the world’s most varied countries. It is a multicultural nation, filled with traditions, unique gastronomy and vast natural reserves. It is home to 12 UNESCO World Heritage Sites and 84 of the planet’s 117 life zones. Peru is situated in the western part of South America and shares borders with Ecuador, Colombia, Brazil, Bolivia and Chile. Its enormous territory, covering more than 1.2 million square kilometres, is composed of three regions: Coast, Highlands and Jungle. Its current population exceeds 31.5 million inhabitants.

Spanish is the official language of Peru; however, 47 indigenous languages are also spoken in the country, including Quechua and Aymara.

Every place on Earth is fascinating and unique, but Peru is one of those countries that manage to stand above the crowd.  This place has so many natural and cultural treasures that have fascinated people for hundreds of years and still fascinates them today.  There are thousands of reasons to go to this great destination, but here are 7 reasons why you should take a Peru vacation.

Peru, land of the legendary Incas, has retained much of its mythical feel. The cultural capital of Cuzco provides a glimpse into the country’s proud history, as the centre of the Sacred Valley and the explorer’s base for the lost city of Machu Picchu. The Quechua and Aymara, descendants of the Incas, weave threads of their culture with Spanish influences to create a rich Peruvian culture of art, architecture and music. A Peruvian traveller has the opportunity to see watch the sunset on the Pacific, climb the highest peak in the snow-capped Andes, and catch a glimpse of the pink river dolphin in the Amazon River.
