Discover an Alternative Route to Machu Picchu by Valencia Travel

I am delighted to say that Peru is no longer on the red list and UK traveller can resume their explorations in the land of the Incas!

The Machupicchu Mountain alternative route

The Decentralized Culture Directorate of Cusco (DDC) informs that as of the first week of October 2021, the alternative routes to the mountains Machupicchu, Waynapicchu and Huchuypicchu are open.

  • First schedule from 06:00 a.m. to 07:00 a.m.

  • Second schedule from 08:00 to 09:00 hours.

Visitors with this type of ticket must enter the Machupicchu Mountain route directly and leave the monument by the same path. This type of ticket will have the possibility of a re-entry to the llaqta to carry out circuit 3 (under/short - yellow colour). The Waynapicchu Mountain alternative route will have 200 spaces per day, distributed in 4 schedules:

  • First schedule from 06:00 a.m. to 07:00 a.m.

  • Second schedule from 08:00 to 09:00 hours

  • Third schedule from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

  • Fourth schedule from 12:00 to 13:00.

Visitors who access this alternate route must complete circuit 4 (under/long - light blue) and will not be able to re-enter the monument.

The Huchuypicchu Mountain alternative route will have 200 spaces per day, distributed in 9 hours, the first hour being from 06:00 to 07:00 hours and the last hour from 14:00 to 15:00 hours.

Visitors who access this alternate route must complete circuit 4 (under/long - light blue) and will not be able to re-enter the monument.

Important information: Please consider that tickets for any of these routes can only be used at the selected time, and due to new regulations of the DDC, you will need to purchase a new ticket in order to visit these routes. If you or your passengers have previously acquired tickets for these alternative routes, they will have to pay an additional fee for a new ticket in order to use them. Please contact your travel specialist for more information.

The capacity of admission to the llaqta was enabled to 100% from October 18 to December 31, 2021, and will remain like this except for modifications that may be given by virtue of the Supreme Decrees of alert levels in the Cusco Region.

It will be great to hear from you and assist with your enquiries about Peru.

Thank you.

Daniel
